Jan was born in The Netherlands and recently retired after long academic and pastoral careers in university and in the church.  Angela lectured in the French department of Mt Allison University but then devoted the next 25 years to her home and the children.  After the children left, she worked for the next 10 years in the Ontario public service and both are now happily retired,     enjoying their grandchildren and travel to Australia, Turkey, France and the UK.   We have just returned from a 5 week trip to South East Asia and Viet Nam.  The oyster keeps on growing.......

A few years ago, Jan and Angela bought an 1880 heritage home in Brantford, Ontario, which is ideally suited to their lifestyle.  There is some evidence that it was the house where Lawren Harris was born. Brantford is the hometown of Wayne Gretzky and the place from which Alexander Graham Bell made his first long distance phone call . The Universities of Laurier and Nipissing and Mohawk College are in the downtown area of the city.   We are only an hour from the vineyards on the Niagara escarpment and the theatre centers of Niagara-on-the- Lake and Stratford.  Within only 5 minutes of our home is a wonderful network of trails for hiking and biking which extend for 30 km in both directions
